The village
Kentford sits on the River Kennett in West Suffolk, on the Cambridgeshire border and about three miles from Newmarket.
Kentford is a small, friendly village in the heart of horseracing country. Stud farms and training yards surround it, and on most mornings you will see strings of racehorses on their way to and from the Newmarket gallops.
The old road between Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds runs through the village, crossing the River Kennett by St Mary's Church. Just outside Kentford, at a crossroads on the way to Moulton, is the Boy's Grave, where fresh flowers still appear on a grave that is centuries old.
Village life centres on St Mary's Church and the Kentford and Kennett Village Hall, which we share with our neighbours across the county line. Whether you have lived here all your life or have just arrived, you are very welcome, and the Council is always glad to hear from you.
